The Bethel Learning Center is designed to be a multi-functional community facility. The project is divided into 4 phases: the core facility, Boys & Girls Club, gymnasium, and indoor swimming pool. Flexibility is a critical element in this project, due to the variety of planned activities: classes, conferences, meetings, senior gatherings, dances, weddings, scout groups, arts & crafts, street fairs, and Boys & Girls Club activities. The design for the first building includes the main entry, offices, flexible multi-purposes rooms, kitchen and support spaces. Three adjacent multi-purpose rooms have operable wall partitions to accommodate group functions of various sizes. Another flexible component of the design is the kitchen, which has serving access on both the interior and exterior. A stone fireplace with intimate seating serves as the focal point of the main entry lobby. The first phase is in the design process with construction planned for 2012.
