Bonney Lake High School has a capacity of 1,200 students, grades 9-12. The building is a two-story, 173,180 SF structure designed on a challenging 49-acre site. The school is designed in small learning communities. Each wing consists of five classrooms, a central project area, and an office for group work. Shared office space for teachers is located in each wing to accommodate multidisciplinary collaboration for instruction planning. Each floor has two lecture halls with theater style seating, and multi-media capabilities to facilitate direct instruction, presentations, guest speakers and professional development activities. Centrally located and open to both floors is a very large commons area built with a mall-like theme. The “store fronts” house a career center, an associated student body office, a student-operated bank in partnership with an outside financial institution and a food court. The food court is part of the school’s culinary arts program and provides numerous serving options for the students. The central commons area also serves as a performance area. The gym is a two-story structure facilitating large events, with the auxiliary gym above the main gym providing additional seating capacity that houses the entire student population.
